Product description
Alkaprén 50 Plus is a rubber toluene-free contact adhesive for a firm bond of absorbent and non-absorbent materials. It is sold per piece in packages from 50 ml up to 15 kg.
This contact adhesive is intended for bonding absorbent materials with non-absorbent ones – for example rubber with concrete, leather with rubber or Formica with wood. Thanks to this it finds use in craft, construction and industrial repairs, where different surfaces need to be reliably joined.
The adhesive is also suitable for bonding rubber roofing waterproofing membranes to concrete, Cetris boards or bitumen membranes. The density of the adhesive is 0,87 g/cm³ and the approximate consumption is 250 – 350 g/m².
When bonding absorbent materials with non-absorbent ones, the adhesive is applied only once; when bonding two absorbent surfaces, at least one of them must be coated once more. It is applied with a spatula, brush or spray gun onto a clean, degreased and ideally roughened surface. The optimum bonding temperature is +20 °C, minimum +10 °C; the joint can be mechanically loaded only after 24 hours.
Main advantages
- Toluene-free composition – gentler work without the aggressive smell of toluene.
- Bonds absorbent and non-absorbent materials – rubber, concrete, leather, wood or Formica in one adhesive.
- Suitable for waterproofing membranes – bonds rubber roofing membranes to concrete, Cetris boards and bitumen.
- Firm and durable joint – after 24 hours it withstands mechanical stress.
- Universal application – with a spatula, brush or spray gun depending on the scope of work.
- Wide choice of packages – from a trial 50 ml up to a large-capacity 15 kg for big projects.
Use
- Bonding rubber to concrete and other construction substrates.
- Joining leather with rubber in repairs and production.
- Bonding Formica to wood and wooden boards.
- Fixing rubber roofing waterproofing membranes to concrete and Cetris boards.
- Bonding to bitumen membranes in insulation work.
- Craft, construction and industrial repairs of different materials.
Frequently asked questions
What materials can be bonded with Alkaprén 50 Plus adhesive?
It is intended for bonding absorbent materials with non-absorbent ones, for example rubber with concrete, leather with rubber or Formica with wood. It also bonds rubber roofing waterproofing membranes to concrete, Cetris boards and bitumen membranes.
At what temperature should the adhesive be used?
The recommended minimum bonding temperature is +10 °C, the optimum is around +20 °C. At lower temperatures the joint achieves lower strength, so bond in a tempered environment.
When can the bonded joint be loaded?
The joint can be mechanically stressed only 24 hours after bonding. During curing it is recommended to load or press the joint.
